Jason Lea, CFP®️

Chief Executive Officer, SPG Life & Annuity

Jason Lea is the Chief Executive Officer of SPG Life & Annuity, a division of Specialty Program Group, LLC, where he leads the firm’s executive team, drives a high-performance sales culture, and oversees strategic account management. Since joining what was then Brokers’ Service Marketing Group (BSMG) in 2000 to develop its annuity division, Jason has played a central role in the company’s evolution. He became a partner in 2011, advanced to CEO in 2016, and later acquired the company.

Under his leadership, BSMG experienced significant growth and transformation. In December 2021, Jason led the firm through a strategic partnership with HUB International and Specialty Program Group (SPG), ultimately bringing together BSMG, Business Underwriters Associates, and AgencyONE under the unified SPG Life & Annuity platform. He now serves as CEO of SPG Life & Annuity and is a key member of SPG’s Executive Management team.

Jason has been instrumental in expanding SPG’s Life and Annuity operations nationwide, helping establish the platform as one of the fastest-growing and most influential wholesale distribution networks in the insurance industry. The platform serves advisors in all 50 states, providing access to life insurance, annuity, and long-term care solutions.

A respected industry leader, Jason currently serves on the board of Finseca and has held previous board roles with BRAMCO and LIBRA. He also served as President of the NAILBA board, contributing to the advancement of the independent brokerage channel.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jason is committed to giving back. Through BSMG’s annual charitable initiatives, he has helped raise over $1 million in support of Amos House, Day One, and End Hunger New England.

Jason earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Davidson College and holds the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation, along with FINRA Series 6 and 63 registrations. He began his career at MFS Investment Management.

He resides in Rhode Island with his wife, Catherine, and their four children.

Trish O’Donnell

Chief Operations Officer, SPG Life & Annuity

Trish serves as Chief Operating Officer of SPG Life & Annuity and brings over 20 years of insurance leadership experience across carriers and distribution offices. She joined what was then Brokers’ Service Marketing Group (BSMG) in 2016. Following the integration of BSMG into SPG Life & Annuity, she continues to develop and implement strategies that drive operational effectiveness, technology adoption, and sales growth. She works closely with our insurance carrier partners and internal teams to ensure exceptional sales support, efficient new business processing, and meaningful data analysis.

Todd Miles, CFP®️

Chief Sales Officer, SPG Life & Annuity

Todd entered the financial services industry in 1998 shortly after graduating from Cornell University. Originally starting on the investment side, he began his career with Fidelity Investments where he obtained his Series 7 and 63 licenses before joining Pioneer Funds.

For the last 25 years, he has been on the sales side of the life insurance industry throughout the country. Todd began with Travelers Insurance as a Regional Vice President in New England and New York and then MetLife via acquisition. During that time, he obtained his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. Several years later, he then relocated to the other coast as a Regional Vice President for MetLife in Southern California and Arizona before joining John Hancock 15 years ago.

Over the last 9 years with John Hancock, he has held various roles. Positions including Regional Vice President for much of the Southeast, as well as taking on the role of Director of Regional Sales for John Hancock as a “Player/Coach” for the eastern half of the United States managing 8 other Regional Vice Presidents. Over the decades, Todd has built a vast network of relationships in the industry by working with advisors, Brokerage General Agencies, banks and institutions in finding planning and product solutions for their clients. Todd lives in the Sarasota, Florida area with his partner and their four children. When they find time between their busy schedules, they enjoy boating, fishing, skiing and spending time at the beach with their kids.

Gonzalo Garcia, CLU

Chief Advanced Markets Officer, SPG Life & Annuity

Gonzalo M. Garcia, CLU, joined SPG Life & Annuity in July 2023, after the sale of AgencyONE to SPG. On January 1, 2026, he became Chief Advanced Markets Officer, a new role created to provide a robust value proposition and Advanced Markets support structure to SPG’s top advisors and wholesale team. In this role, he leads SPG’s Advanced Markets Initiative, developing strategy, training and overseeing large-case life insurance cases across the Life & Annuity division.

Prior to SPG, Gonzalo served as Managing Partner & Head of Advanced Markets at AgencyONE. Prior to that, he spent two years at Credit Suisse, a global investment bank, where he worked as a Managing Director in the Fixed Income Division, advising institutional investors on longevity and mortality risk hedging strategies.

Gonzalo began his career in 1982 in San Juan, PR. Upon relocation to the Washington, DC area, Gonzalo joined current partner, Dennis Bartos, and Ed Leisher, in 1992 at The Potomac Group helping grow the business until the sale to The BISYS Group, Inc. (now Crump Life Insurance Services) in 1998. While at BISYS, Gonzalo held several senior positions and ultimately ascended to Executive Vice President operating as a key member of the senior management team.

Gonzalo is an active member of Finseca, having served as AALU Co-Chair of the Brokerage and Independent Distribution Task Force and a member of the AALU Diversity Committee. In 2019 and 2021, he served as a member of the Nominating Committee for the election of a new Board of Directors due to the merger between AALU (now Finseca) and the General Agents Management Association (GAMA). Gonzalo is also an active member of: The Forum 400, where he has served in a variety of roles including the Annual Meeting Content Planning Committee, Membership Committee and Industry Partner Committee; The National Association of Independent Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA); and The Society of Financial Service Professionals (SFSP). Gonzalo has Chaired the John Hancock Brokerage Advisory Council, has served on the Brokerage General Agency Advisory Councils for Prudential Life Insurance Company and AIG/American General Life (now Corebridge). Finally, Gonzalo is the current Chairman of LIBRA Insurance Partners Board of Directors.

Gonzalo is a regular speaker at industry conferences including Finseca, The Forum400, The Association of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU), The Life Insurance Management Research Association (LIMRA), and the InsMark Symposium, and an active author in industry publications.

Gonzalo attended Rice University in Houston, TX, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984, majoring in Management Studies and Psychology. He received his MBA from The College of Insurance (now St. John’s University) in New York City, in 1985.

He is a resident of Arlington, VA, where he has lived since 1989 with his wife, Alexandra.

Cathy Neifeld, JD

Executive Vice President

Cathy Neifeld, JD, is Managing Partner of AgencyONE, part of SPG Life & Annuity. In this role, she oversees all aspects of AgencyONE’s operations, with a focus on business development and retail and institutional financing relationships.

Cathy began her career in the life insurance industry in 2004 as the Director of Business Development and General Counsel for the Potomac Partners Group in Bethesda, Maryland, one of the nation’s premier insurance platforms offering premium financing solutions to insurance companies, investment banks and wealthy individuals. In this role, she evaluated premium finance programs and specialty products, working closely with international lending institutions, program developers, insurance agents, and advisors on all aspects of these transactions from development to implementation. She was instrumental in helping to place over $5 billion of life insurance death benefits with $300 million of target premium over five years.

Cathy is a member of the Forum 400, Finseca, and the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the New Jersey Bar. She was elected to the Finseca Board of Directors for 2024-2026, serves on the 2024-25 Finseca Women’s Advisory Board, and is currently the chair of the Forum 400 Industry Partners Committee. Cathy served as Chairwoman of the Board of the Forum 400 in 2020 and President in 2019 — an organization limited to the top 400 life insurance professionals in the United States. Prior to serving as President, Cathy was the Vice President of the Forum 400, functioned as Chair for the 2018 Annual Meeting, and served on the Finance Committee, the Study Group Committee and Co-Chaired the Membership Committee.

From 1996 through 2003, Cathy served as President of Mega Systems, Inc., an international large format film projection system company, overseeing worldwide sales and marketing. She was also an Executive Producer of the first ever large format film on the Olympic Winter Games, “Olympic Glory,” featuring competition from Nagano, Japan. Cathy is also a litigation attorney with 10 years of experience and is admitted to both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

When not working and traveling, Cathy is an avid theater and movie fan, frequently making treks to NYC to take in the latest on, off, or off-off Broadway productions. In 2013, she achieved a life-long dream of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro.
